The State Border Committee is open for the dialogue on resolving refugee problems
On November 23, Lieutenant General Anatoly Lappo, Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus, met with Ms. Renata Held, Regional Director for South-Eastern and Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and Ms. Angela Li Rosi, Deputy Director of the Europe Bureau of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in Minsk.
The parties discussed the current situation related to irregular migrants on the border between Belarus and Poland. The meeting also focused on the interaction of all relevant organizations to assist this category of people.
Anatoly Lappo noted that the State Border Committee is open for the dialogue with all interested parties. The Belarusian Border Guard Service makes every effort to resolve the current situation related to refugees heading to the EU countries.
As a result of the meeting, the parties reached agreements on further cooperation in this field.
