Border zone and border regime

BORDER ZONE   - land area adjacent to the State border (average depth of 30 km) within a portion of the region, city, small town, village council, which also includes the waters of border rivers, lakes and other surface water bodies and islands located in the their waters, belonging to the Republic of Belarus, provided for the state border protection.

BORDER LINE - land area adjacent to the State border (average depth of 10 km) , for the construction (building) and maintenance of structures and facilities, required for the State Border guard.

BORDER REGIME - rules for entry, temporary stay, movement of persons and vehicles (hereinafter - the entrance (entry), temporary stay and movement) in the border zone and border line, registration, maintenance, navigation, and location of water vessels in inland waters of the Republic of Belarus (the waters of rivers, lakes and other surface water bodies, the coasts of which belong to the Republic of Belarus) within the border zone and border line, maintenance and use in a border zone and border line of motor vehicles not subjected to road handling, floating objects and aircrafts, as well as the procedure for economic and other activities in the border zone and border line.

Limits of border zone and border line within the regions are affirmed by appropriate regional executive committees.

Control over the entrance (entry), temporary stay and movement in the border zone and border line of individuals and vehicles is exercised by the Border Guard Service and the internal affairs bodies.
